TBILISI – MTSKHETA – MASTER CLASS – TBILISI – SEVAN – TSAGHKADZOR – YEREVAN – KHOR-VIRAP – NOROVANK – YEREVAN

Day 1. Meeting at the airport of Tbilisi. Transfer in hotel.
Excursion around Tbilisi. You will visit all the important sights of the Georgian capital: the sulfur baths complex, the Sioni church, the Tbilisi synagogue, the Metekhi cathedral, climb the cable car to the Narikala fortress, stroll through the Tbilisi courtyards and see how ordinary Tbilisiers live, visit the Fir Gorge and admire the Tbilisi waterfall, climb the Mtatsminda mountain and see Tbilisi from a bird’s-eye view. Day 2. Free time. New Year.
Breakfast. Free time in Tbilisi. In the evening we invite you to the national Georgian restaurant for the celebration of the New Year 2018. An awesome program awaits you and undoubtedly a great mood (paid additionally for choice).

Day 3. Free time. Walking through New Year Tbilisi. Visit sulfur baths.

Day 4. Mtskheta and master class for cooking khinkali and degustation georgian chacha.
Breakfast. The first stop we will do in Mtskheta, the main city Kartvelian kingdom, Georgia heart. And the other – Jvari – was described in the famous poem by Mikhail Lermontov “Mtsyri”. The town is woven from the early medieval antiquities, are each building a monument of culture, that’s why Mtskheta is under UNESCO protection.
Then we will go to Tbilisi for a master class of khinkali, during the master class we will offer you to taste the famous Georgian chacha and try the khinkali that you yourself have prepared. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 5. The border – Dilijan (Haghartsin) – Lake Sevan – Tsakhkadzor – Yerevan
Breakfast. Transfer to the border with Armenia. Meeting at the border. A trip to the mountain resort of Dilijan. It is located high in the mountains (1200-1500m), covered with virgin pine forests. Walk through the old district of Dilijan. The architecture of Dilijan is interesting for its lighter and airy style using wood in the structures and facades of houses. Sharambeyan Street, located in the historical district of the old Dilijan with many restored workshops of local artisans, recreates the spirit of the old city of the XIX century. Survey of the monastery complex Haghartsin (XIII century.). Haghartsin – the most secluded and cut off from the outside world monastery, which includes a group of monastery buildings, closely adjacent to each other. Unexpectedly arising from the thick trees, the monastery creates a fabulous impression of the lost world. The group of monastery buildings includes the church of St. Stepanos, St. Mariam Astvatsatsin and the church of St. Gregory the Illuminator, as well as the famous refectory. A trip to the high mountain lake Sevan – one of the wonders of Armenia. This dazzling blue lake is located high in the mountains. Cold and majestic, it conceals in itself an inexplicable beauty.  Trip to the ski resort Tsaghkadzor. Tsaghkadzor – translated from Armenian means “gorge of flowers”. In the summer, its shady forests and blooming glades attract numerous tourists and residents of Armenia. In winter, snow valleys are a great place for skiing lovers. There is a 2,500-meter long cable car that meets the European standard. You can rent skis, sleighs, snowboards. Tsakhkadzor is a small Switzerland by its beauty, which you can look around, climbing the cable car and rushing higher and higher to the tops of the mountains. Going up to the 2nd station, you can arrange a small respite by drinking a cup of hot oriental coffee in a bar, and then continue the path along the cable car to the summit (above 2800 m). Fans of thrills in winter there are snowmobiles – turbans with drivers and without, which with an arrow roll you down the steep slope. If you are not scared – go for it! Day 6. Yerevan – Khor Virap – Areni (Cave of Birds) – Noravank – Yerevan

At the place of imprisonment of Gregory the Illuminator, the Khor Virap Church was built, which became a holy place for the whole Christian world, and Gregory the Enlightener was elevated to the saints’ face and is considered the founder of the Armenian Apostolic Church. In the church, the entrance to the dungeon is preserved, so it is possible to descend the stairs and inspect the place of confinement. Not far from the church are the ruins of the ancient capital of Armenia Artashat, which is one of the few ancient cities built on a special project. The author of the city plan was the commander of the ancient Carthage, Hannibal, who fled to Armenia after losing the war with Rome. A trip to the village of Areni is the cradle of winemaking. Visit to the cave Areni. This cave belongs to the class of clastic cave, since it was formed in limestone conglomerates. Since 2007, archaeological excavations have been carried out here. As a result, materials dating from 4200-3500 BC were found: plant remains, dishes, grapes and apricots, cloth knitted from reeds, female jewelry, part of the body of a mummified goat and more. The oldest shoes in the world were found during archeological excavations carried out in Areni village of Vayots Dzor region. Gotted with green shoes designed for the right foot; the shoe is small enough; by European standards corresponds to the current 37 size. He was discovered by the head of a group of archaeologists, a specialist at the Irish University of Cork Ron Pinhasi. In his view, the greens were needed to support the shape of the shoes. Laboratory tests determined that the oldest shoe has a history of 5637-5387 years. Several years ago, a place was found in the Cave of Birds, adapted for the production of wine. This oldest winery in the world has a 5000-5500-year history. A trip to the monastery complex Noravank (13th-15th centuries), which is an outstanding monument of medieval architecture and a major religious and cultural center. Located among the freakish sheer red rocks on the ledge of a meandering gorge, it is an extraordinary sight in its beauty. The most ancient monument of Noravank is the Surb Karapet church (IX – X c.). To the north of it in the XIII century. was erected the main temple of the monastery, also dedicated to this saint. The sculptor and architect was the famous talented architect Momik. To the north of the main temple there is a burial vault of the Orbelian family. The temple is decorated with images of Our Lady with the baby, God the Father, the crucifixion of Christ, and a large number of khachkars of delicate work. The nearby Church of St. Astvatsatsin (Our Lady) is a highly artistic monument of memorial significance. The first floor served as a burial vault, the second – a memorial temple. Particularly beautiful is the western facade of the building, decorated with leading staircases leading to the second floor. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 7. Yerevan – Etchmiadzin – Gayane temple – Hripsime temple – Zvartnots – Yerevan (Christmas Eve)
Breakfast at the hotel. The trip to Etchmiadzin (Vagharshapat) is the ancient capital of Armenia. Starting from the 4th century to the present day it is the largest religious center, the permanent residence of the head of the Armenian church – the Catholicos. The Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, it was founded in 301. St. Gregory the Illuminator. Later it was reconstructed, completed and now represents a complex, including the Cathedral, the Theological Academy, the Residence of the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Synod of the Armenian Church, the library. In the museum of the cathedral, located behind the altar, there are: a collection of objects of decorative and applied art associated with the liturgy, objects from gold, silver, precious stones, ornaments, a huge silver cauldron for making miracles and the legendary “holy spear”. Visiting the church of St. Hripsime (7th century AD). A trip to one of the architectural wonders of Armenia in the temple of Zvartnots (641-661 AD) or the temple of the Bending Forces, which got its name from the word “zvart”, which means “joyfully beautiful” in Armenian. It is in the past a three-tier structure, supported by massive columns with images of eagles, decorated with carved vines, pomegranate branches, pametta and akapry. The remaining ruins give an idea of ​​the rare beauty of this temple. The temple is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List (2000). Return to Yerevan. Day 8. City tour of Yerevan – museum of Sergey Paradzhanov
