Kakheti, the birthplace of wine and hospitality (from Gudauri)

Kakheti is one of the most beautiful regions in Georgia. Seventy percent of Georgian wines are produced here. According to legends, the first vine was grown by Noah on the Ararat mountainside, which is not far from Kakheti. Contemporary archeological diggings prove that Kakhetian people knew how to grow vine in ancient times. Wine jars, stone wine presses, founded in Kakheti, are dated up to X millennium BC.

Almost every Kakhetin village is well-known for its own sort of wine; Kindzmarauli, Akhasheni, Teliani, Mukuzani; Called so because of the names of the villages where they are produced.

We visit one of the biggest wine factories in Khakheti, where you can taste and buy some wine.

In Kakheti you can visit her grave. According to a legend, the place of the grave was chosen by Saint Nino. The king of Kartli, Miriam, who was the first Christian king in Georgia, wanted to transfer the relics to the capital Mtskheta, but they couldn’t move her body.
The relics of Saint Nino are in the Monastery of St. Nino, in Bodbe. There is the spring, named after her, the pilgrims believe in its healing force.
